چکیده
Abstract The objective of this work was to evaluate the sensitivity Melanoxylon brauna Schott. tree legume seeds desiccation and storage. In drying experiment, were submitted two conditions: a forced air circulation chamber (40.18 °C ± 0.13 28.48% 3.95 RH) silica gel desiccator (27.19 1.28 26.19% 0.94 for different times (0, 12, 24, 36, 72, 144 hours). A completely randomized design in 2 (drying methods) × 5 times) factorial scheme plus control 4 replications 25 used. following variables evaluated before after drying: seed moisture content, percentage germinated seeds, germination speed index, mortality, normal abnormal seedlings. storage experiment divided into batches: pre-dried (at 5.0% humidity) without (control at 8.9% humidity). then stored plastic bags three environments: refrigerator °C, freezer –20 room temperature (29 °C). removed every four months humidity test 24 months. Data from analyzed considering block levels: presence absence) 3 (storage refrigerator, or temperature) + controls (with baseline) repetitions seeds. Drying reduced initial water content 5.0%, loss viability. 40 faster more efficient than gel. results enable classifying species as orthodox, i.e. tolerant desiccation. fridge storing up months, independent previous drying, while with makes them last longer can 16 12 drying.

Drying and storage primed grass seeds
Cbeatgrass (Bromus tectorum L.) has become the dominant species over large areas of rangeland in the Great Basin region of the western United States. Rapid germination at low temperature may contribute to the competitive success of cheatgrass in areas formerly dominated by native sagebrush and bunchgrass species. The objectives of this study were to determine whether seed priming could be used ...
متن کاملSimple and Effective Drying and Storage of Seeds and Horticultural Products for Developing World Farmers
Delivering improved seeds to smallholder farmers in the developing world is an efficient and sustainable method of increasing crop yields and quality. Unlike fertilizers, pesticides and equipment, seeds can be produced locally for distribution to farmers or self-saved. Furthermore, improved varieties of horticultural crops often reduce dependence on synthetic pesticides, improve food safety, re...

متن کاملStorage duration and temperature of hydroprimed seeds affects some growth indices and yield of wheat.
One of the methods for achieving more yields is to use seed priming technique correctly. When it comes to using seed priming, practically important issues should be taken into account including interval between priming to planting and conditions for storage of primed seeds. Thus, it is very crucial to be informed of duration and temperature for storage of primed seeds. This research seeks to co...
متن کاملEffects of storage duration and temperature of hydro-primed wheat seeds on seed and seedling quality
Quality of seed as a propagating organ and the most valuable input to produce crops is highly important in agriculture. Thus, the objective of this study was to compare the effects of storage temperature (15, 20 and 25 °C) and storage duration (0, 2, 4, 6 and 8 days) of hydro-primed wheat seeds of Koohdasht dry land cultivar on germination and seedling characteristics. The seeds were hydro-prim...
